It is steadily becoming commonplace to purchase goods using our phones, free of bankcards, so why should we need a card to borrow a book? Libri is a mobile library assistant which builds on customer-driven point-of-sale technology such as Apple’s EasyPay alongside citation management applications to provide a swifter, more user-centric service. The app provides visual browsing capability of the library catalogue and allows users to borrow and cite books by scanning barcodes with a smartphone camera. On top of this, the app helps to track and manage returns providing alerts and notifications. Users can also flick through reccomended readings, rate and review books, or get directions straight to the bookshelf. The name is derrived from the Latin word for book whilst the logo depicts both a barcode and bookshelf.
